Some great things to do when the sun is shining……
Whinlatter Forest Park
Whinlatter visitor centre, Siskins Café & Shop. From Whinlatter Visitor centre there is a variety of marked trails for walkers and cyclists to enjoy. www.forestry.gov.uk
Children can enjoy the outside play area, the Fox trot and Rabbit run trails. Watch the amazing Ospreys on a live video nest camera from April to Late August annually, 7 days a week from 10am until 5pm daily.
Go Ape - Treetop Walks
New to Whinlatter is the latest treetop walks for those with a sense of adventure a visit to ‘Go-Ape' at Whinlatter Visitor Centre is a must! www.goape.co.uk
Visit Dodd Wood to see the Osprey's live from the Lake District Osprey Project view point. Open annually from April to late August/September, 7 days a week from 10am until 5pm. During this period Osprey project staff will be on hand to help visitors use the freely available telescopes and to explain about these wonderful birds. Dodd Wood Car park is only a few minutes drive from the The Castle Inn Hotel. The Dodd Wood car park lies at the bottom of Skill Beck and is the starting point for 3 walks of varying distance including a strenuous route to the summit. www.ospreywatch.co.uk
Mirehouse and Gardens
Set in beautiful grounds, Mirehouse was once the home of James Spedding, a noted literary figure of the nineteenth century. Still in the Spedding family, the house is delightfully unspoilt and harks back to the heyday of the English country manor house (Open from April to October) Tickets to visit Mirehouse and/or Garden and play park are available from the tearoom. www.mirehouse.co.uk .
Derwentwater and Keswick Launch

A walk around Buttermere lake or down to the shores is not to be missed. Fantastic views from the lake shores up to Fleetwish Pike and Haystacks.
There is no other fell like Haystacks. It is a classic in its own right. Wainwright thought so too and his ashes were scattered there, his final resting place.
